Dear friends,

We are avid animal lovers, especially doggies, as we also have 2 lovely doggies at home.

This article has came as a shock to us. Such injustice done to a poor and sick street dog in the name of ART!

Quote:

"In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death. For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched motionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died."

Watch the video here:

Worse still:

Quote:

".. the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008."

Although the official said that:

Quote:

"Mrs. Claudia Rocio (WSPA) has made a statement to the effect that the office in Costa Rica "made direct contact with the Minister of Art and culture" and that the Minister said "…Mr. Vargas' presentation at the Biennale will be different to the one shown in Nicaragua, which means that this time no animal will be used, and for this reason the Ministry will not prohibit his participation".

But the fact that the 'artist' have to resort to use LIVING dog to proof a point, was still an act of cruelty. Currently there are over a million people around the world has signed the petition to stop this cruelty.

Here's a blog that is tracking the situation of the petition: http://reiskeks-natividad.blogspot.com/

This is a controversial issue, which means some people may have different opinion on this matter. We are personally outrage by this incident. We urge readers to Google on this and read more on the facts. If you so feel that the 'artist' deserve to be named and shamed, you may follow to sign the petition here:

But in retrospect, it'll probably end up dying on the street eventually.

I was talking about it with my friends and there's an unconfirmed rumour that said the musuem insiders said it actually escaped.

That artist had apparently 'tortured' the dog in its stay in other ways too. Like bringing food close by but preventing the dog from eating it.
